 Understanding Essences: Essential Oils, Heat Infused Oils, Hydrosols, Tinctures, Creams and Herbals.

    Soltara Essences single tones essential oils are 100% pure Therapeutic Grade Oils. Many of which are produced in the state of Alaska in our own distilling room. Our growing and production rooms are totally pesticide and man-made fertilizer free.  Products such as lavender, and others needed to help enhance wellbeing are produced and offered.
    In alternative health: Essential Oils, Hydrosols, Creams, Tinctures, Spritzes, and Herbals are a way to return to the natural means of health, wellbeing and natural healing products. 

    Essential oils come in many different forms. Many claim to be pure 100% essential oils and they actually are not. They have had fragrances added, carrier oils added, pressed and produced beyond the total benefit of the product, etc. It is hard to find an essential oil that has not been adulterated. If they have been dual processed they are not pure essential oils. If the process is not traceable from planting to processing they are not 100%. Pure essential  oil will carry a certification with regards to this. Soltara Essences are considered therapeutic grade as we do not have the necessary equipment or means required for 100% purity registration at this time.

     When processing oils there are a number of ways that oils are produced: steam distillation, water distillation, cold compress, solvent distillation, hydrosols, infusions, and more.

      Applications of oils can be done in a number of ways as well: Neat or applied directly to the skin, in lotions and creams, a hydrosol, infusion, inhalation, misting, and diffusers.

     Essential oils are chemical compounds of the plant material that is processed and made into oil. There is chemistry to them. It is important to learn what the chemistry is within those oils so that when you decide to use oil you will know that you will not burn the skin or irritate the respiratory system. A phenol will burn so be aware of these types of things. If you place oil on and it burns remember you can turn off an oil use an oil base. 
    Heat Infused Oils are created from fresh and dried plant material. They are infused in a base oil. They are then either infused in a double boiler type infusing system, over a low heat source, or are placed in sunlight for a natural heat infusion. As they are heated the plant material will "pop" and begin to release their precious oils into the carrier oil. We use jojoba as it is not really an oil and it most naturally matches the secretion from the sebaceous glands of the body, and has the longest shelf life. These oils are prepared and done in a carrier oil and should not be confused with essential oils they are infused oils. 
    Hydrosols are the water that is produced from the steam distillation of plant material. The water is gathered and processed in the separation apparatus. Keeping hydrosols at a temperature about 55 degrees is ideal. The shelf life of a hydrosol is 1 year in the best of conditions. When using a good hydrosol the hydrosol is bottled immediately from the distilling runs. 
    Hydrosols are about 20-30 times more concentrated than an herbal cup of tea. Each hydrosol is a concentrated delusion of an essential oil. They have the same benefit of the oil at a tad bit lesser price. Each hydrosol has a percentage of oil contained within the bottle as total separation is never possible. When using the hydrosol expect results similar to an essential oil only more diluted. 
    Tinctures are made through the extraction of oils from the plant material in a carrier alcohol base of at least 60% proof or better. (90 proof is ideal). To use a tincture place on the skin as a liniment, add to a bath, mix with oils, lotions and more. Be creative. It is not recommended to drink a tincture, unless you know the alcohol base used is safe for consumption and that the plant material is safe for consumption. 
    Tinctures are used to stimulate, sedate, comfort and any other use that may be needed to improve the quality of health. We recommend keeping your tinctures in the medicine cabinet, first aid kit or where ever you may need. Tinctures will last up to 10 years. 
    Creams are a base carrier of a quality cream of lotion. A cream then has the essential oils added to it stirred in and blended well. The use of creams makes for ease of medical therapeutic treatment with an essential oil at a fraction of the cost of a full essential bottle. Creams are often blends of oils, in cream for these oils are able to be obtained and used without the cost of many bottles of oils on your medicine cabinet shelf. Creams will also make application of essential oils easier. 
    Herbals when working with the raw plant either dried, minced, ground herbals can be used in many forms. Herbals can be placed in tea bag type containers and steeped or infused for drinking, applying topically. Herbals may also be added to capsules for injection and insertion. Using the raw plant product in addition to oils, essences, salves, soaps, baths are a few methods that allow you to work with the plant directly. The plant material may also be ground and used in an application to the skin known as a politic.
